THE BEST SHEPHERDS HUT IN NORFOLK WITH HOT TUB: OUR HONEST REVIEW OF THE SHEPHERDS HUTS AT ORMESBY MANOR!

For this Easter bank holiday, we searched high and low for the best shepherds hut in Norfolk – ideally with a hot tub – for our first staycation with our baby boy in tow!

Luckily for us, we stumbled across the hidden gem of The Shepherds Huts at Ormesby Manor! In this blog, we share all about our great experience, and why you should absolutely consider booking your own perfect weekend away here too.

OUTSIDE FACILITIES AT THE SHEPHERDS HUTS AT ORMESBY MANOR

At Ormesby Manor, the small grassy meadow out front hosts 3 separate shepherds huts, all endearingly named and uniquely decorated internally to suit: The Gamekeeper, The Gardener and The Beekeeper!

We personally stayed in ‘The Gamekeeper’, which is the shepherds hut closest to the meadow gated entrance. This was very helpful for us to easily go back and forth to the car.

All of the shepherds huts are linked by a beautifully carved stoned pathway, which is lined with solar-powered ambient lighting in the evening. We felt each shepherds hut is far enough away from the others to feel a sense of privacy.

There is a communal fire pit area near the front of the meadow, and a large wooden eco hot tub at the back:

THE LARGE WOODEN ECO HOT TUB

We wanted an epic Norfolk Shepherds Hut experience with a hot tub – and that’s exactly what we got! At the back of the meadow past all the huts is a large wooden eco hot tub (pictured below). It is crucial to note this hot tub is not private, and is shared between all 3 shepherds huts.

We didn’t mind this so much, as when we visited only one other shepherds hut was occupied.

Pictured: Liam enjoying a soak in the large wooden eco hot tub at the Shepherds Huts at Ormesby Manor. We loved the fact this hot tub is plumbed in, so is constantly running hot and ready to use! Photograph taken by Jordie.

What we absolutely loved was the fact this wooden hot tub is actually plumbed in, meaning the water is constantly hot and ready to use anytime of day!

We hadn’t come across this before with this type of hot tub, normally you would heat it up yourself by burning logs which can take hours, so this was a great and unexpected perk.

Sustainability is at the forefront at Ormesby Manor and their Shepherds Huts, with conscious thinking and implementation at the heart of everything they do. For example, the power continuously heating this hot tub is run by renewable fuels, sourced by their own biomass plant on the grounds. How incredible is that?

The soothingly warm waters plus uninterrupted countryside views, made this the most relaxing hot tub experience. Grab a glass of white, hop in and watch an idyllic sunset as pheasants and geese run across the field in front of you!

As you enter, there is a fitted double bed on the left-hand side, complimented by a large flat screen TV with streaming services (e.g. Netflix). Free premium tea bags and coffee making facilities are supplied, plus long-life milk sachets in the fridge. You are also kindly gifted delicious fresh cookies, which we very much appreciated – and went down very nicely with a cup of tea after a long drive!

Psst! If you’re staying for a few days here, save the bottle of fresh milk you get with the complimentary breakfast and store in the fridge to use going forward for your teas and coffees.

Directly opposite is a cute little table with two chairs (plus all the plates / cutlery you need) to sit and enjoy your food.

THE MAIN SELLING POINT – A PRIVATE BATHROOM!

For us, they truly became the best Shepherds Huts in Norfolk option when we found out they have been renovated to each include a private shower and plumbed toilet!

We have stayed in many Shepherds Huts in our time, all of which we had to use an on-site shared toilet – and one time even a compost loo!!

The fact all three of The Shepherds Huts at Ormesby Manor have their own private bathroom area is such a key selling point, adding that extra touch of home comfort you just can’t put a price on! Fresh towels, toilet paper and sustainable toiletries are included also.

HEATING THE SHEPHERDS HUTS

For us with a young baby at the time – and travelling in a chillier month of March – we wanted to make sure the Shepherds Huts were nice and warm for him in particular.

Luckily, The Shepherds Huts at Ormesby Manor are again fully plumbed in and centrally heated by one large vertical wall radiator, which made the hut super toasty and very comfortable.

Again, the central heating supplied to all of the three Shepherds Huts run on the renewable energy generated from their on-site biomass plant, a great eco-conscious decision that will continue to keep these huts sustainable now and in the far future.
