Staying at Beck Hall hotel in Malham, Yorkshire Dales is a truly unique experience that should not be missed. Snuggled tightly in the rolling hills, accessed by crossing an ancient clapper bridge over a babbling ford, this award-winning hotel’s charming and historic building makes it the perfect base for exploring the stunning natural beauty of the Dales.
What really makes a stay at Beck Hall special, however, is the warm and welcoming atmosphere that pervades the entire property. From our personal experience, the friendly staff are always on hand to help all guests with anything they need.
ROOM TYPES & PRICES AT BECK HALL HOTEL
Beck Hall accommodates a total of 21 unique en-suite rooms. These rooms are categorised into two types to choose from to suit your budget and requirements, as described below:
Room Type 1: Double or Twin Room 💰
Prices range from £114-£120 per night. Room size: 129 ft².
Room Type 2: Deluxe Double Room with River View 💰💰
Prices are £140 per night. Room size: 215 ft².

- An incredibly delicious breakfast, held from 8am-10am, enjoyed in the whimsical Secret Garden bistro!
- Dog friendly! Your dog can stay in the rooms at no extra cost.
- Daily room cleaning if staying for more than one night, refreshing the room and leaving fresh milk for tea / coffee.
- Beautiful uniquely decorated rooms all with en-suite bathrooms with a bath tub to soak in.
- An electric kettle with free tea, coffee and biscuit treats.
- Free Wifi (though this is very hit and miss due to the hotel’s remote location). It is only EE Network that can get 1 or 2 signal bars around the property.
- Smart central heating system.
- Free toiletries.
- Large flat screen TV.
- A large free-standing clothes rack to organise and hang your clothing during your stay.
OUR RECOMMENDED ROOM TYPE:
During our stay at the Beck Hall hotel in Malham, we stayed in the Deluxe Double Room with River View, which is slightly larger than the standard Double Room.
The Deluxe room we stayed in (Room 16 to be precise) was located on a first floor and had its own staircase / outside landing area before the actual room, so it felt like a whole little apartment just for us!
Likewise, in this room we were able to get the best signal of 2 bars here throughout the entire property. It’s worth noting we are both on the mobile network EE.

FOOD & DRINK AT BECK HALL HOTEL
There is one restaurant on-site at Beck Hall called “The Secret Garden”, which is the main hub for all food and drinks served throughout the day.
The Secret Garden is open to hotel guests only between 8am-10am for the included breakfast. It then becomes open to the public between 12pm – 10pm daily.
BREAKFAST AT BECK HALL (8AM – 10AM)
Beck Hall hotel guests receive a breakfast every morning as part of their stay. You can choose a cooked breakfast option with a tea or coffee from a delicious set menu, before also indulging in a wide “help yourself” selection of mixed fruit salad, yoghurts, fresh orange juice, pastries and cereals up at the bar.
Breakfast is enjoyed in The Secret Garden cafe or, on balmy warm days, stream side on the Secret Garden’s outside terrace. The breakfasts available range from Full English, Vegetarian, Vegan or even Gluten-free.
LUNCH & AFTERNOON TEA AT BECK HALL (12PM – 5PM)
During the day, the Secret Garden at Beck Hall serves a mouth-watering lunch menu, and is a perfect stop to load up on delicious food after a morning of exploring Malham.
The specific lunch menu includes Yorkshire Tapas bites, a cream tea or a wide range of fresh sandwiches until 4pm.
They also offer a full Afternoon Tea menu from 12pm to 5pm, but this has to be pre-booked in advance 24 hours beforehand.
EVENING DINNER AT BECK HALL (5PM – 8.45PM)
The evening menu at “The Secret Garden” is mainly à la carte, serving a wide range of locally sourced produce and ingredients. Check out their full main menu here.
It is open to serve the public from 12pm everyday, with last seating at 8.45pm. You can easily book a table online using their super easy online booking system.
Even if you are a hotel guest, we would suggest booking a table in advance as the restaurant is very popular locally!
If you have additional requirements, i.e. food intolerances or even if just want to reserve a table in a specific area, call them directly.

DRINKS AT BECK HALL HOTEL
Set within The Secret Garden bistro is also a fully-stocked bar, serving a host of liquor delights, from locally sourced cask ales, cocktails and a comprehensive wine list!
Enjoy in the restaurant, on the outdoor terrace, in the garden areas or in the warm and cosy Snug area.

If you wanted to mix it up, there are also many nearby other restaurants just a short walking distance from Beck Hall hotel in Malham village. These include (but are not limited to):

COMMUNAL AREAS AT BECK HALL HOTEL
There are a few communal areas for guests to relax in during the day or to unwind in the evening.
Outside, there is of course the aforementioned outside terraced seating next to the gentle stream. Likewise, there is also additional garden seating out the front, most likely to be enjoyed in the warmer months!
Inside, there is a welcoming ‘Snug’ area, complete with a traditionally British aesthetic and seating set against a central roaring fire place. A perfect spot to snuggle up in, especially during the colder Winter months!
PARKING AT BECK HALL HOTEL
BECK HALL HOTEL ON-SITE GUEST PARKING
There is a designated guest-only car park at the back of Beck Hall hotel, with 20 to 25 marked parking bays. Only hotel guests are given the keypad code for the barrier to utilise this car park.
This Beck Hall hotel car park is completely free for guest use.
The Beck Hall hotel car park is located at the back of the hotel. Pass the main Beck Hall entrance (where you will see the ford – obviously, do not go down here).
Instead, drive a further 20 metres up the road before turning right into the car park around the back. We have pinpointed the exact location here for you.
While technically there are enough car parking spaces in the Beck Hall car park to accommodate all hotel guests.
However – despite this – you may be unfortunate to encounter a guest parking aimlessly across 2 bays, which in turn reduces the amount of available space.
This is no fault of the hotel, but can be frustrating. If you stay here, please be a gem and do park within an allocated bay to give everyone a chance to park.
If you do encounter this guest-only car park being full up, just directly outside the barrier there are an additional 4 spaces to use as a back-up.

IS BECK HALL HOTEL DOG FRIENDLY?
Yes, Beck Hall is a very dog friendly hotel, and the faces of the staff always light up when they greet a new tail wagging visitor!
Dogs are allowed in both the rooms and all public spaces at Beck Hall, so you and your furry companion never have to be apart if you don’t want to. Equally, you can leave your dog to relax in the room while you enjoy some alone time at dinner!
Beck Hall also goes above and beyond to always ensure convenience for you, and comfort for your dog. They can provide soft blankets, dog beds, dog dishes, mats and dog towels.
ARE THERE FAMILY ROOMS AT BECK HALL?
Yes, there are limited rooms at Beck Hall that can accommodate the average sized family (i.e. 2 adults, 2 children). It is advised to contact the hotel directly regarding date availability on this occasion.
Beck Hall also provide travel cots in the room free of charge. Just make them aware of your requirements before you arrive.
WHEN IS BECK HALL HOTEL CHECK IN & CHECK OUT?
Typically, check in at Beck Hall hotel is between 4pm to 11pm, and check out is available between 8am to 11am.
However, if there is room availability, it can be possible to check-in earlier (whenever the room is ready).
If not, you are welcome to use the complimentary hotel guest car park (you will receive a barrier code a few days before your stay) to park up and explore the area until you can check in.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO STAY AT BECK HALL HOTEL?
There is never a “bad time” to stay at the Beck Hall hotel in Malham. Regardless of the weather or season, the hotel continues to deliver a special experience.
Whether that be warming up with a warm tea against The Snug’s roaring open fire, or basking in the warm Summer sunshine with a crisp wine at The Secret Garden bistro.
That being said, the warmer months (April to August) will tend to book up quickly, so if you want to visit during these dates, be sure to reserve in advance!
IS THERE WIFI AT BECK HALL HOTEL?
Unfortunately, the one downside to Beck Hall hotel is the internet connection. Despite having free WiFi on-site, the rural location of Beck Hall makes it very hit and miss.
Likewise, you do not get any phone signal especially down at The Secret Garden restaurant.
That being said, if you are on the EE network, this does receive 1 to 2 4G signal bars in certain areas of the property. We stayed in Room 16 (a first floor Deluxe Room) which received 2 strong signal bars inside, we are both on EE networks.
This by no means should deter your decision to stay at Beck Hall, as it could be a great opportunity to fully switch off and be present during your time away!
Nonetheless it is certainly worth keeping in mind if this is an important factor for you. It may be worth downloading everything you need i.e. all offline maps you want to use prior to arrival.
WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF BECK HALL?
The building of Beck Hall is steeped in incredible history, and could certainly tell a tale or two! It was built in 1705 as a yeoman’s cottage, later converted into a ‘wayfarer’s hostel’ by a travel enthusiast, Mr Hardacre, who saw the incredible potential of the then derelict cottage.

When choosing your room type, we personally believe (from our experience here) it is absolutely worth the extra £20 a night to stay in a Deluxe Room with a river view for an even more special experience.
