IS A SNOWMOBILING IN ROVANIEMI TOUR WORTH IT? AN HONEST REVIEW FROM FIRST-TIMERS!

THINKING OF TRYING SNOWMOBILING FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME IN ROVANIEMI?!

I’ll be honest, my face went 😬 when Liam suggested it for our 5 day trip to Rovaniemi.

Shortly followed by 😨 when I realised he was actually being serious.

As someone who hadn’t yet mustered up the courage to do anything like that, my mind became frantic with irrational fears! Things like:

  • What if I fall off and hurt myself?
  • What do I even wear to stay warm?

That was before we found and personally experienced this Snowmobiling Quick Spin – 2h snowmobile experience tour with Safartica, Rovaniemi’s top-rated tour company.

Next, you’ll leave the city behind and head deep into the snowy Finnish countryside to a beautiful, secluded area of land used exclusively by Safartica.

Waiting for you is a sleek lineup of snowmobiles, prepped and ready to go! Your guides will walk you through how to operate them, as well as teach essential hand signals to keep communication smooth and safe while riding.

πŸ›· RIDE THROUGH THE FOREST ON YOUR SNOWMOBILE
Hop on your two-person snowmobile and slowly ease into the ride. We loved the fact they start off slow, only going a short way before signalling you all to stop, where the guides make sure everyone is happy and feeling confident.

WANT TO BOOK?
HERE’S SOME USEFUL THINGS TO KNOW

IT’S BOOKABLE FROM NOVEMBER TO APRIL, BUT TRY AND WAIT UNTIL DECEMBER

Being a Winter-based activity, this Snowmobiling Quick Spin – 2h snowmobile experience tour is available to book from the mid-November to the mid-April, HOWEVER

We’d recommend booking this tour no earlier than December so there’s enough snow on the ground avoid cancellation!

We visited in late November and there was literally justttt about enough to go ahead. The tour the day before us was cancelled!

THIS SNOWMOBILING IN ROVANIEMI TOUR COSTS AROUND Β£110 GBP / $150 USD EACH

Finally, let’s talk numbers. As of 2025, this snowmobiling in Rovaniemi costs around Β£110 GBP (or $150 USD) per adult. Anyone 15+ is classed as an adult.

CHILDREN CAN JOIN THIS TOUR, BUT…

Technically, yes children can join this snowmobiling tour, but there are a few important things to know.

First off, anyone driving a snowmobile must be at least 18 years old and hold a full driver’s licence.

Children aged 0–14 usually ride in a sledge that’s pulled behind the guide’s snowmobile. For safety (especially with younger kids), it’s recommended that one parent rides in the sledge with them.

If your child is over 1.4 metres tall, they can ride as a passenger on the back of your snowmobile, but they’ll be charged the full adult ticket price in this case.

BEFORE YOU GO, READ OUR INSIDER TIPS!

1 – Relax your arms while driving
When you’re holding the accelerator steady, it’s easy to tense up your arms and shoulders without realising. Try to stay relaxed. Otherwise, you’ll really start to feel yourself ache after a while!

2 – Take turns driving
If you’re sharing a snowmobile, definitely swap drivers halfway through. The actual driving is super fun, but you’re so focused you won’t take in much of the scenery. The mid-tour break is the perfect time to switch and get both experiences.

3 – Don’t rely on your phone for photos
Even as a passenger, it’s really hard to take photos or videos. Partly because you’re moving, but mostly because it’s freezing and your hands won’t want to cooperate. We recommend bringing a GoPro with a head strap you can pop over your helmet for easy, hands-free footage.

4 – Budget for optional insurance
When you arrive, Safartica will offer an optional snowmobile damage insurance (around Β£30 per person from memory). We didn’t know about this in advance, which was a bit annoying, but we did end up taking it for peace of mind.

It meant we could actually enjoy the ride without stressing about the cost of any accidental damage.

IS THIS SNOWMOBILING TOUR WORTH IT? πŸ₯…

As frequent travellers who have personally experienced this tour, I can hand on heart say yes, for us this Snowmobiling Quick Spin – 2h snowmobile experience tour was absolutely worth it!

As total novices who’d NEVER been in a 5-metre radius of a snowmobile before this, it’s the perfect tour to take for beginners who want to feel safe during their first-time, with added reassurance you won’t be thrown into the deep end, expected to race at lightning speed!! 🀣

This is YOUR sign to get out your comfort zone, have so much fun and shed some snow. πŸ’¨πŸ’¨πŸ’¨

I can’t speak highly enough of Safartica’s guides too, they were brilliant and we always felt in safe hands with them.

I hope this guide has been helpful, and if you DO do this tour (you should!!), absolutely get in touch with us and let us know what you thought! Feel free to email us at hello@theflainstravel.com.
