TIVOLI AT HALLOWEEN: WHAT TO EXPECT

DECORATIONS

You know there’s always that ONE house in the neighbourhood that goes ALL OUT, pimping their house head-to-toe in Halloween decorations? Tivoli Gardens is that pimped house. x 10.

Before you even step foot in the park you’ll see HUGE scary-faced pumpkins hanging above every entrance. At night they all light up too and look incredible! Take a look—

We highly recommend visiting Tivoli Gardens in October for Halloween! It was so fun and they go ALL out with the theme, it was a top highlight on our 3 to 4 days in Copenhagen itinerary.

Over 20,000+ pumpkins are dotted around Tivoli Gardens at Halloween, creating so many curated moments to stop and admire! Not to mention plenty of super fun photo opportunities.

And then there’s me. Channelling my inner witch over a bubbling cauldron. My childhood idol Sabrina would be so proud.

DAY-TIME HALLOWEEN ACTIVITIES

While Tivoli Gardens 30+ rides (all listed here), shops and attractions run like a well oiled machine whatever day of the year, they add some extra special “things to do” in their programme to bring the Halloween season to life. Including—

🎃
GIANT PUMPKIN CARVING

Tivoli Gardens opens its doors at 11am, when the first round of Halloween activities between. I was adamant to not miss the “Giant Pumpkin Carving” scheduled for 11am on the Tivoli programme. So there we were, eagerly at the entrance with e-ticket in hand, at 10.45am!!

Turns out, it’s an on-going live display to come back to throughout the day to see the progress, rather than a time-limited show, which is what I assumed it was.

So – big tip – don’t get there super early if you don’t want to. I learnt it takes a longggg old time to craft a masterpiece 😆 Still cool to see them using a CHAINSAW to carve them.

Also, I was GOBSMACKED by the sheer size of these pumpkins. Who knew real pumpkins grow that big?!

The result!! What a pumpkin masterpiece, obviously finished muchhh later in the day. So no need to rush for it, unless you want to see them start it from the beginning!

🎭✨
LIVE OPEN-AIR SHOWS

Next up is a fun, animated and light-hearted theatre show on Tivoli’s Open-Air stage. The main character is Rasmus Klump, a cherished bear from a popular Danish comic strip series.

Unless you speak Danish, you won’t fully understand the dialogue but the plot of scarecrows coming to life through an accidental magical spell was easy enough to follow. Our little man couldn’t look away, smiling through all the upbeat music!

The show is mainly for kids, but enjoyable for us big kids too!

WITCHES IN THE GARDENS

As you wander round, keep an eye out for cackling, real-life witches who have “descended” and taken over the park!

NIGHT-TIME HALLOWEEN ACTIVITIES

If you thought it was good during the day, you haven’t seen anything yet!! As the sunsets and darkness descends, the true extent of Tivoli’s Gardens Halloween magic is out in full force—

🏚️🧟⚰️
HAUNTED HOUSES

If you’re wondering “Is Tivoli Gardens scary at Halloween?”, overall no, it’s full of good old family fun spooks. EXCEPT for its two haunted houses, both frightfully heart-stopping experiences only for brave adults!!

The Vendetta-family Mansion and the Haunted Hospital beneath “The Rollercoaster” ride. Both plagued by spine-chilling, restless spirits just waiting to make you jump out your skin!! 😨

(I had to look after little man so sadly missed this joyous attraction… that’s my excuse anyway 😉)

My favourite thing about visiting Tivoli Gardens in October for Halloween was their "firefly" installation (pictured). It was so beautiful!
The “Firefly” installation was one of my favourite things to see at Tivoli. This was a limited-time installation for the Halloween themed season.

👻🐺🦇🔦
SHADOWS ON TIVOLI MOUNTAIN

Directly in front of the Open-Air stage is an multi-purpose space full of bustling food stalls. Standing here, look up and you will see large, eerie shadow protections on Tivoli’s “Mountain”.

Like a creepy hand, howling wolf or flying bats! Such a simple thing, but one of my favourite parts!! Here’s a short video my phone just about managed to take to show you—

🍷🍇♨️
GRAB A GLASS OF GLØGG

Copenhagen in October can get a little chilly, especially at night! Do yourself a favour and grab a soothingly warm cup of the finest Gløgg – aka hot mulled red wine!! from one of the many drinks stalls dotted around Tivoli Gardens.

✨🎇✨
ILLUMINATIONS ON THE LAKE

Finish the day perfectly with the Tivoli Lake light show, usually the last scheduled attraction for the day. You won’t miss the lake, it’s got a sunken pirate ship and Chinese pergola within feet of each other, the pairing you never knew you needed!

TIVOLI AT HALLOWEEN: CONFIRMED 2026 DATES

This year, Halloween at Tivoli season begins on Friday 2nd October, and the last day is Sunday 1st November 2026.

One too many Gløggs, Jordie?

BUYING TIVOLI GARDEN HALLOWEEN TICKETS

Tivoli Gardens entrance tickets are the same price all year round, regardless of the “themed” season, like Halloween.

Choose from two ticket types, detailed below. All tickets are valid for your selected date only, but you can go in and out of the park as many times as you like on that day

You just need get a hand stamp from Tivoli staff at any of the entrances / exit points before you leave.

  • Entrance Pass — cheapest, ideal if you just want to experience the park and not go on any rides.
  • Entrance + Unlimited Ride Pass — more expensive upfront, but works out much better if you plan to go on rides. Otherwise, you’ll be paying £5/£6 PER RIDE. (Alexa, play “Scandalous” by Mis-Teeq!!)

CONCLUSION: SHOULD YOU VISIT TIVOLI GARDENS AT HALLOWEEN?

So! The golden question – Should you add Tivoli Gardens at Halloween onto YOUR Copenhagen October itinerary?

We vote absolutely yes! I’m a total sucker for Halloween anyway, but they really go all out and make the whole experience such a fun thing to do for everyone – unless you hate Halloween 🤣

Your day entrance ticket lets you go in and out of Tivoli Gardens as many times as you like, so you can spend as little or as long as you like here (just remember to get a hand stamp from the entrance guards).

E.g. You could easily come in the morning, spend a few hours wandering around when it’s less busy, then come back in the evening to see the decorations all lit up and come to life! In fact, that’s exactly what we did.

We hope this guide has been helpful for you. Please let us know what you’re favourite part of your day was, and have the most AMAZING time visiting Copenhagen!
